The Museum comprises the complete printing house where the characteristic atmosphere of the old times has been preserved. This is the only such place in Poland where the entire collected equipment is fully operational. Here you can see not only various machines and devices, but also learn about their use in old printing houses. During a visit you can see the subsequent stages of print formation by means of an old, archaic method: from the manual text arranging with the use of a single letter, subsequent typesetting and casting on a complex machinery, printing on the paper, to the final stage of putting together in the form of a book.
The museum is a trace-souvenir of the largest printing house in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Since 1806 it belonged to the Prochaska family who contributed to the popularization of printing in the Cieszyn Silesia. It was possible to preserve the live, typographical printing house with the entire variety of types, matrices, casting and bookbinding machines. During graphic workshops everyone can prepare with their own hands a matrix with a text or picture and then emboss a print on the paper by means of an old printing press.
